As a kind of post-script to yesterday's post, I now see that BRIDESHEAD REVISITED has received very mixed reviews, and was roundly panned by A. O. Scott in THE NEW YORK TIMES this morning. Ah well, that's too bad. Still I will see it myself, and make my own judgement, even if pending disappointment is now a palpable.

The original version is a near-masterpiece and one of the great prestige piece multi-part literary adaptations from the UK. It is doubtful that this new film can match it, and the early reviews seem to back that up. Still, I would wager that it's definitely worth a look-see and k and Dorothy's anticipation may still be rewarded. I know I will see it and soon. Nick,it is really unfair that you don't get these films sooner. I really feel for you.

Thanks for the warning DP. I was going to read that article, but now I'll skip it. I think I've already had one or two plot points blown for me.

I haven't see the original version either. When I was 12 I had no use for PBS except for Monty Python.

I've since grown up...somewhat.
