Of course this is speculation at best, but I'm curious as to why Banderas hasn't been considered (if he has not); he starred in the successful revival, garnered a Tony nod and good reviews, is the right age, has an acceptable singing voice...I dunno...could be that they're looking for box office clout, but then again, neither Javi's nor DDL's films have been box office gold...just curious.

Guys and Dolls is one of my favorite musicals... Personally, I loved Marlon Brando in that film!

I know Daniel Day-Lewis has done comedy, but I think it was only one film and it was a flop. The closest I've seen of him come to comedy is probably In The Name of the Father or There Will Be Blood, which says a lot about the types of characters he plays, because those are NOT funny movies.

I would love to see Day-Lewis try something new -- a musical, a comedy, something light and fun. It'll be a nice change for him.

I have a feeling he wants to do something "light." He has this dark, tortured reputation -- playing Guido would be a total flip and he would surprise people.

I'm not sure if he can sing, but I think that he can pull it off if he jumps on board. Hey, Brando did it in "Guys and Dolls;" was it embarrassing? Slightly. Cringe-worthy? Nope. Fun? You bet. I think that doing "Nine" is the best thing he can do to get away from Plainview...run, Daniel, run!

Now I hate to be the voice of doom, BUT...

You two (and EVERYONE ELSE) must understand that I worship the bloody ground that DDL walks on. I would have unwavering confidence IF this wasn't a musical. When you have talent as elegantly monumental as DDL's you don't generally talk about "miscasting". He can make it work. But I do wonder about this in the context of this particular project.

Why aren't they offering this part to ANTONION BANDERAS? He played the role in the Broadway revival and he was magnificent. He would PERFECT.

I'm curious about DDL but I.JUST.DON'T.KNOW.
