No surprise here Dorothy. Let's see where you come down personally with PRECIOUS. I'm eager to know.
I'm confused. Are the AAFCA noms supposed to be African-American? Can anyone enlighten me as to which African-American actor/actress is on Up in the Air? And Up?
I have seen most, except for Princess, Up in the Air and Goodbye Solo.
I saw Good Hair, and thought it was really enlightening on the topic of weaves. LOL Since I also have curly hair, and have just taken on clipping it (especially sine summer is here), I know all about "good hair" talk.
American Violet was okay...ish. I thought it'd be really good to watch at some class at school.
They don't necessarily award just African-American actors or African-American-themed films. For instance, Marion Cotillard was awarded Best Actress a few years ago. The slant is toward Black performers and films, but they definitely recognize overall quality in movies/performances.
Your ahead of me with American Violet, Amy. This is the first I hear of it.
And Sam, I'm looking forward to finally seeing Precious as well! Believe, you'll be the first to know how I feel about it :D
It's because I ran into it, and watched it from the few comments I got to see online. However, it's a very average film. I wouldn't die to recommend it to anyone... maybe catch it on the tv?
