Revolutionary Road, full trailer

The full trailer, this time without Mary Hart blabbing away over all of the dialogue.

Sorry it's been so slow here, we've both been so busy.

You have to be excited about this one. Two great actors who never let us down. And lets not forget Sam Mendes. Remember the last movie he did about a suburban couple? Yeah, that movie wasn't bad either.

Oooh, it's finally starting to get exciting now as we approach awards season! Though frustratingly it still seems ages away as Doubt, Milk and RR are all early 2009 releases in the UK. Argh! This is compounded by the fact that it's been such a quiet year so far, no frontrunners a la Marion and Julie early on which was a bit of a rare occurence I suppose. I just wish they'd spread the release dates out for award calibre films, such a lull between spring and autumn, unless you look out for indie films perhaps.

So far there's been the blockbusters The Dark Knight (love that poster of Marion as Catwoman! That would be a dream, she would be so good after Tina Lombardi) and Wall-E for quality. Some duds and mediocre films as well like Atonement-lite aka The Edge Of Love. The Visitor was rather good and Richard Jenkins could be the only early performance to go the distance to an Oscar nod.

One film I recommend very highly is The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas which I saw tonight. A very reputable poster from the IMDb Oscar Buzz boards said it was the best film of the year which made me curious and she may well be right. Not sure if it will get any Oscar nods in such a crowded year, probably adapted screenplay, but the cast were excellent and this should cement Vera Farmiga’s chances of a nod in supporting actress for her other touted role, as a body of work of the year thing.

Anyway, I look forward to you and Dorothy’s predictions and an exciting race. I should use them to put on a bet after the rollercoaster glory of last year!
