Are Brad & Leo Inglorious Bastards?

According to Variety, Quentin Tarantino met recently with new daddy Brad Pitt to discuss the lead role in QT's war time epic "Inglorious Bastards." Variety also reports that QT will be meeting with Leonardo DiCaprio this week to discuss another role in the film.

Several studios said the script is vintage Tarantino and they're eager to be in business with him at a reasonable price. DiCaprio and Pitt would be appearing in a Tarantino-helmed project for the first time, though Pitt previously spoke Tarantino-scripted dialogue in a small but memorable stoner turn in the Tony Scott-directed "True Romance."

I'm shocked and awed by the possibility of a Leo/Brad match up. While I'm hot and cold with QT, I always eagerly await his projects; the fact that he's tackling a different genre is an added bonus. If you're curious about "Inglorious Bastards," you might want to take a look at this write up by AwardsDaily goddess Sasha Stone. I haven't read the article myself because...well, frankly, I've decided to "craigkennedy it."*

ahahaha...Look ma! I'm an intransitive verb!!

Having said that...I'm ooooooh so tempted to read the script.

I hope it catches :)

And yeah, I'm seriously tempted...I mean, who knows. If the script magically appeared in my inbox, I wonder whether I'd have the wherewithal to pay no mind. I'd like to think I would, but in reality, I'm quite weak.

Ugh, I am really unimpressed with Brad Pitt as an actor. I have seen nearly all of his major films, and the only ones he's even been decent in are the Ocean's films. Even then, he is trumped by the ENTIRE cast -- Cheadle, Clooney, Damon, Affleck, Gould, Reiner, and Caan in particular.

Leo, however, impresses me more and more with each film he does. He dipped a bit in the late 90s/early 00s but he has just been excellent lately.

Oh, and I centered the images... the asymmetry was driving me mad :\

Drop me a line Dorothy if you'd like the script to magically appear in your inbox.

Really K? Interesting. I've always thought Brad was underrated. Still, I wouldn't start a fight over it.

Didn't you even like him in Jesse James?

Haha, I should use that term. Not everybody has a verb named after them.

I don't think Pitt is overrated so much as he's overexposed in general. From what I've seen, though, the acting praise he gets is for the right roles (Babel, Jesse James).

I'm one of those people who only got "Jesse James" and Pitt's performance the second time around (now I own it). I agree with daniel that any praise he does receive has been for the right roles, including those daniel mentioned and two of my favorites, "Fight Club" and "Twelve Monkeys." I appreciate his willingness to take on both traditional and risky projects (both as an actor and as a producer).

Glad you eventually saw the grievous error of your ways re JJ, Dorothy :-) It was my number 2 film of last year after TWbB.

I'm a fan of a number of Pitt's performances too (in addition to those mentioned - True Romance, Thelma and Louise come to mind). And he's doing a fine job playing the goof in the Burn After Reading trailer.

Arrgggh...I keep leaving comments only to come back and find they didn't post. Blogger hates me.

Ah well, was just something about JJ...I'm sure it wasn't fabulous.

He's not bad, but he's always overshadowed....

In Ocean's it's by the rest of the cast. In Jesse James it's by Casey Affleck. In Fight Club it's by Ed Norton and Helena Bonham Carter. In Babel (which sucked, big time), It's by Adriana Barraza -- and they weren't even seen on screen at the same time!

The man stands out in his personal life, and I do actually feel for him there because he can't control the media, but he never stands out on film for me. He's not bad, but he's not amazing.

I think you're actually right K that he tends to blend in...except in 12 Monkeys.

But actually I think that's to his credit. He's so irritatingly handsome, we expect him to take over the screen, but he never plays the superstar card and he lets others shine. That's one way of spinning it anyway.

Casey was amazing in JJ...I didn't know he had it in him...but Pitt was also good, if less flashy.

I disagree. Brad Pitt is one of the most underrated actors working today. The only people who call him a mediocre actor are the people who have an unfounded personal bias against him because they bought into the malicious misportrayal against him which came as the result of a false accusation. Saying that the other actors always overshadow him is a ridiculous lie. His charisma, talent, and presence almost always
shines out on screen. He manages
to bring underwritten characters to life with great vivacity and
makes average roles memorable.
I thought he defined Fight Club,
he made that movie what it is.
I have been impressed with most of his performances. The only performances I did not like was
Meet Joe Black and The Devil's Own.
He is a true icon who was wrongly destroyed. Don't even get me started on Babel. Babel was a brilliant, nuanced, complex, thematic masterpiece with emotional powerhouse performances
from the entire cast and it is one of the most unjustly maligned movies ever. Brad has a great range that has not fully been explored yet and I know he will overcome the lightweight pretty boy label.
