Un trailer delicioso.
Well, I wasn't sure what to make of the Woodster's latest project, but I'm kind of sold...

Eh...
Really?
Hmm...should I watch it or not? I'm already committed to the movie.
I'm sold on the cast, even if I'm not a Woody Allen cultist. I like the guy, but, well...you know how it is.
Yeah. I'm not impressed.
I could be wrong, but it just looks like a film where a bunch of women hook up with Javier Bardem. Maybe I would feel differently if there were ANY dialog or if the trailer explained the plot or ANYTHING, but right now it's just... eh.
I wonder if the film will be in both Spanish and English (it's not unusual for foreign language film trailers to just have music, God forbid they scare people away with them strange tongues!).
" it just looks like a film where a bunch of women hook up with Javier Bardem"
I kinda like that idea :) But I think it'll be more than that. Like Craig, I'm no Allen cultist, but the Bardem and Cruz additions draw me in big time.
By the way, K, your observation about VCB made me think of Patrick Stewart's movie idea in "Extras." lmao.
I hear Patrick Stewart will be narrating This Side of the Truth... how awesome would that be?
*That* would be awesome.
I'm sure this has been noticed but the excellent Oscar Igloo (Marion was their #1 performance of the year, even though like most they didn't think she'd win) has been updated and renamed with a full list of delicious exciting names for this/next year's race including Vicky Cristina - http://www.awardscircuit.com/
That's the early buzz lol.
I much much prefer it to that Film Experience Net - http://www.thefilmexperience.net/Awards/awards.html who HATED Marion and included Kidman in their line-up. God. And also said something ridiculous along the lines of "female actors are better" which is the typical gay men's response with diva worship.
Both at their best are around equal and women don't usually get as good parts and looks matter more, but I think everyone has a preference.. in general I prefer male actors. But someone like say, Meryl is of course a genius and equal to the very best males.
Oh and avoid/skim some of the commentary - "The Film Experience" tends to be particulary spoilery. Ugh.

yes please... :)
Um...
YEAH.
That really is hysterical. "It just looks like a film where a bunch of women hook up with JAVIER BARDEM."
We all seem to be on the same trajectory here - except for the utterly delightful k. I think that's flamethrower hot. When Javier has finished with those babes, maybe he could give me a call?
He and Scarlett seem to be quite the ravenous pair.
There were some other things I liked about it besides the heat. That shot of Scarlett and Penelope (?) walking past the fountains was stunning. Reminds me a lot of the opening of MANHATTAN.
It's interesting how much Woody (my all time favourite director) has changed in terms of his style over the years. I NEVER thought he would leave New York to start filming in other parts of the world and the odd bit of provocative or sensual content is sneaking its way in there. It's quite unexpectedly fascinating. Just goes to show you never can tell.
Maybe this is me just being foolish, but I've had a hard time watching any of the films Woody Allen made after he married and had a child with his daughter. I haven't been able to look at him or his work the same way. Though, I did enjoy Everyone Says I Love You.
Granted, I don't know a lot about Vicky Cristina Barcelona apart from this trailer and a view different synopses. It sounds like Scarlett plays the lost, young woman out to find herself in another country (again), Javier plays a charming, womanizing guy, and Penelope plays the woman scorned. I'm sort of... bored with it already, to be honest. I'm certainly in no rush to see it.
I'll go and see ANYTHING with Sir Javier in it. Was almost even tempted to see Love In The Time Of Cholera. I'm particularly interested in the early stuff like Jamon Jamon though,
loom, by all means check out his early work (Jamon, Jamon; Carne Tremula, etc.), but steer clear of "Love in the Time of Cholera." I, for one, turned it off about 20 mins in. He was woefully miscast (come to think of it, everyone was friggin' miscast).
